City Clerk

Responsibilities

The elected City Clerk/Collector is responsible for the preparation, execution, and archiving of all City Council documents as prescribed by State law and City Code.

Some of the duties of the City Clerk and her staff include:

  • Archiving City Council documents, official proceedings, ordinances, and resolutions
  • Maintaining boards and commissions applications and appointments
  • Administering business licenses
  • Maintaining City Council meeting and election materials
  • Maintaining of agreements and leases
  • Administering animal licenses
  • Providing Notary Public services
  • Publicizing of legal notices
  • Seeing to the recording of official documents
  • Administering Permits
  • Administering utility water and sewer services and billing
  • Receiving citizen concerns or complaints and providing information
  • Preparing and distributing payroll to officials and employees of the City
  • Collection of fees/fines and all other monies paid to the City
  • Paying of bills for all of the City Departments
  • Administering the oath of office to officials and police officers
